Walking in God’s Rest
Let God carry what you were never meant to hold.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
😓 When Your Soul is Tired
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
There’s a kind of tired that sleep can’t fix. It’s the exhaustion that comes from carrying too much for too long — emotionally, spiritually, mentally. Jesus doesn’t offer us a life free from responsibility, but He does offer rest in the midst of it. He invites us to come close, not when we have it all together, but when we’re falling apart. His rest isn’t just physical — it’s peace for your soul. 🌿
🕊️ Rest is a Weapon, Not a Weakness
“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength...” — Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)
We often treat rest like it’s optional, like we have to earn it. But God built rest into creation — even He rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2). The enemy wants you to believe that constant hustle is holy, but the truth is, rest is a spiritual discipline. It’s not laziness — it’s trust. When you pause, you declare: “God is in control, not me.” 🙌
🌤️ Make Space for His Presence
“Be still, and know that I am God...” — Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Stillness can be uncomfortable when we’re used to distractions. But it’s often in the quiet moments that we hear God most clearly. Rest gives room for reflection, renewal, and revelation. Don’t be afraid of silence — God speaks in the stillness. And sometimes, doing nothing is exactly what your soul needs to remember who He is. 💭
⛲ Let God Fill What Life Has Drained
“He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul...” — Psalm 23:2–3 (NIV)
True rest is not just about stepping away from something — it’s about stepping into the presence of the Shepherd. He knows what you’ve walked through. He knows what you’re holding. And He’s already prepared a place for you to rest, be still, and be restored. Your soul wasn’t created to run on empty. Let Him fill you again. 💧
🙏 Prayer:
Father, I’ve been running on empty. I’ve been trying to carry things that are too heavy for me. Today, I choose to release my burdens into Your hands. Teach me to rest — not just in body, but in heart and mind. Quiet the noise around me, and speak peace to the storm within me. Thank You that I don’t have to hold it all together — because You hold me. In Jesus’ name, amen. 🤍
📖 Scriptures to Meditate On:
Here are a few powerful verses to reflect on throughout your week. Read them slowly. Pray through them. Let God speak to you through His Word. ✨
Exodus 33:14 – “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Hebrews 4:9–10 – “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.”
1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
Proverbs 3:24 – “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”
Mark 6:31 – “Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’”
With love,
Brandon
