Loving Others Like Jesus

Reflecting Christ’s Love in a World That Needs It

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”John 13:34

The Greatest Call: To Love Like Jesus

If you could sum up Jesus’ entire ministry in one word, it would be love. Not just any love—but radical, selfless, life-changing love that goes beyond what the world understands.

Jesus didn’t just talk about love; He lived it. He loved the outcasts, the sinners, the broken, and even His enemies. He showed compassion to those who were rejected, offered forgiveness to those who didn’t deserve it, and sacrificed everything for those who could never repay Him.

And then, He calls us to do the same.

But let’s be honest—loving others the way Jesus did isn’t always easy. Some people are difficult. Some have hurt us. Some make it hard to extend kindness. But Jesus never said, "Love only when it’s convenient." He said, “Love one another. As I have loved you.” (John 13:34).

So, what does it really mean to love like Jesus?

1. Love Without Conditions

Jesus never loved with an if or a because. He didn’t love people because they were perfect, deserving, or lovable. He loved them despite their flaws, failures, and shortcomings.

🔹 He loved Zacchaeus, the tax collector—even when others despised him. (Luke 19:1-10)
🔹 He loved the woman caught in adultery—even when the world wanted to condemn her. (John 8:1-11)
🔹 He loved Peter, even after he denied Him three times. (John 21:15-19)

Jesus loves us unconditionally—and He calls us to do the same.

✨ Ask Yourself: Do I love others only when it benefits me, or do I love the way Jesus does?

2. Love Through Action, Not Just Words

True love isn’t just a feeling; it’s an action. Jesus didn’t just say, “I love you”—He showed it in the way He served, healed, and ultimately, sacrificed Himself on the cross.

🔹 He washed the feet of His disciples—even though He was their Lord. (John 13:12-17)
🔹 He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and comforted the brokenhearted.
🔹 He gave His life for us on the cross—the ultimate act of love. (Romans 5:8)

Loving like Jesus means choosing to serve, give, and care—even when it’s inconvenient.

✨ Ask Yourself: How can I show love through my actions today?

3. Love Even When It’s Hard

Jesus didn’t just love the people who were kind to Him. He loved those who betrayed Him, mocked Him, and nailed Him to a cross.

🔹 He forgave the very soldiers who crucified Him (Luke 23:34).
🔹 He told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44).
🔹 He never repaid evil with evil, but with grace and forgiveness.

Loving difficult people is one of the hardest things we are called to do—but it’s what sets us apart as followers of Christ. When we choose to love those who don’t deserve it, we reflect the very heart of Jesus.

✨ Ask Yourself: Is there someone in my life I need to forgive and love despite the hurt?

4. Love That Points People to Jesus

Jesus’ love was transformational. People who encountered His love didn’t stay the same. They were healed, restored, and given new life. When we love others like Jesus, we become a light in a dark world.

🔹 Your kindness could soften a hardened heart.
🔹 Your grace could bring healing to a broken person.
🔹 Your love could be the reason someone finds Jesus.

✨ Ask Yourself: Is my love leading people closer to Jesus?

Final Encouragement: Let’s Love Like Jesus Today

Loving like Jesus isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. The world is filled with people who are hurting, lonely, and searching for love—and we have the opportunity to show them the greatest love of all.

This week, let’s make it our mission to love unconditionally, serve selflessly, forgive freely, and point people to Jesus through our actions. Because when we love like Jesus, we change the world—one heart at a time.

A Prayer for Loving Like Jesus

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving me unconditionally. Help me to love others the way Jesus does—with patience, kindness, and grace. Give me the strength to love even when it’s difficult, to serve even when it’s inconvenient, and to forgive even when it’s undeserved. Let my love reflect Your heart so that others may see You through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge: This week, ask God to show you one person who needs His love—and find a way to be His hands and feet in their life. ❤️

With love and grace,

Brandon
